Cost for your trekking party
The answer in one line
The Mount Batur sunrise trek on the site tour starts from $27 per person, and Bali lists a separate tourist levy of IDR 150,000 for foreign visitors.
Price and levy
A Mount Batur sunrise trek starts from a modest price per person, but pickup distance, the Bali visitor levy and cash on the mountain sit on top. Here is each line, with the source behind it.
The compact version
The Mount Batur sunrise trek price per person on the site tour starts from $27, and the listing carries a rating of 4.78 from 3,769 reviews. It offers fee-free cancellation until 24 hours ahead with a full refund, and payment can follow later, which makes the price easy to hold while you work out the rest of your trip. Treat the figure as a starting price: the page that opens when you book shows the live price for your date.
Across the treks we compared the starting prices run from $23 to $50. The all-cost small group, limited to 8 people, starts from $23; the Ubud shuttle hike from $27; a trek led by a female guide from $33; and the long guided day, limited to 10 people, from $50. The spread says more about what each listing includes and where it picks you up than about how good the mountain is.
Because every number here is a from-price, none of it is a quote. The listing prices move with the date, the pickup area and the group you join, and a lower price can simply mean a smaller bundle. Read what is in each listing before you pick the cheapest one, and use the calculator below to see what a party of several people will pay in total.
Line by line
| Item | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Site tour, per person | from $27 | The site tour's listing |
| Far-area pickup, per car | an extra $15 or $25 | The site tour's listing |
| Uluwatu pickup elsewhere | IDR 100k per person | Another listing |
| Bali tourist levy | IDR 150,000 | Love Bali portal |
| Trunyan boat, per boat | IDR 600,000 for up to 5 | Another listing |
The site tour's title puts breakfast in the bundle, and the listing offers pickup from Ubud, Sanur, Denpasar, Kuta, Canggu, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran with a live guide who speaks English and Indonesian. The listing also says shower facilities are limited and first come, first served, so a hot shower after the climb is a bonus, not a promise. A neighboring listing states that drinking water and the use of a lounge with showers and toilets are included.
What sits outside is the pickup distance. On the site tour, pickup from Uluwatu, Sidemen or Candidasa costs an extra $15 per car and pickup from North Bali, Lovina or Amed costs an extra $25 per car. Another listing charges IDR 100k per person for an Uluwatu pickup, paid to the driver. If you are staying outside the main southern areas, ask what the transfer costs before you book.
The Mount Batur entrance fee is the question people search for, and what we can report is that no official page we read publishes a trekking ticket price for Mount Batur. One listing sells an entry ticket on a guided hike or jeep ride from $25, which shows that access can be sold on its own. Whether a given bundle includes the ticket is the operator's statement to make, so ask if the listing does not say.
From-prices
Separate from any tour, Bali asks foreign visitors to pay a tourist levy. The Love Bali portal of the Bali Provincial Government lists it at IDR 150,000.1 Circular Letter Number 7 of 2025, issued on 24 March 2025, describes the same levy as payable before departure or during the stay in Bali.2,3
The portal says the levy is set under Bali Provincial Regulation Number 2 of 2025, which amends Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2023 and exists for the protection of Balinese culture and the natural environment.4 It is a cost of visiting the island, not a cost of climbing the mountain, so it is charged whether you trek, swim or stay by a pool.
No source we read says that a trek listing includes or excludes the levy, so plan for it as a separate line. If you have already paid it for your stay, keep the confirmation to hand; if not, pay it through the portal rather than from a stranger's link. We found no source saying the mountain asks for it again.

Indonesia.travel notes that many local stalls and fee posts in Kintamani take cash only, even though the large cafes accept digital payments.5 After a night climb the last thing you want is a fumble at a toilet door, so carry small notes for tips, snacks and the odd fee, and keep them where you can reach them in the dark.
A boat across Lake Batur is the other cash item. One listing states a boat charter to Trunyan village at IDR 600,000 per boat for up to 5 people, and says villages generally do not accept cards. That is a separate outing from the trek, but it shows how the small costs of the area are quoted: per boat, per car or per person, in rupiah, paid on the spot.
Tips are your call. The listings name no tip charge, and a tip is a thank-you, not a listed cost. Give it in cash if you give it, and give it to the person who looked after you rather than to a stranger at the car park.
Start with the duration window. The site tour lists 5 to 10 hours, the all-cost small group 5 to 10 hours, the female-guide trek 5 to 8 hours and the long guided day 10 hours. A shorter window may mean a pickup closer to the mountain, not a better deal, so check the pickup area before you do any arithmetic.
Then look at the group. The site tour states a maximum of 5, the all-cost small group 8 and the long guided day 10. Smaller groups cost the operator more per head, yet the prices here do not rise in a straight line, so the listing's inclusions explain the gap better than the group size does.
Finally, look at what the title promises. The site tour names breakfast, the all-cost small group names transfer and all costs, and the Ubud shuttle hike lists pickup and drop-off only if the option is selected. The words in a title are labels, not a full contract; open the listing and read the inclusions before you pay.
Your levy helps preserve Bali’s nature, culture, and heritage for generations to come.
Ahead of payment
Choose the pickup area first. Because far areas cost extra per car on the site tour, moving your trek to a night when you stay in a covered area can save more than shopping among listings. If you are flexible about hotels, that single choice moves the total more than any promotion.
Hold, then decide. The listings we compared offer cancellation without a fee until 24 hours ahead, refunded in full, plus payment later. That means you can lock a slot while you compare, and release it a day ahead if the forecast looks wrong or a cheaper bundle appears.
Do not trade the guide for a lower price. Bali's circular requires foreign tourists to be accompanied by a licensed tour guide, so the cheapest line is not a trek that leaves the guide out.6 Our page on the guide rule goes through what that means in practice.
